Floor Staff (Lincoln, Boston-Dedham)

The floor staff at Rock Spot Climbing will work to ensure a safe and fun environment for our customers through instruction and group facilitation under the supervision of a shift supervisor.

Responsibilities will include:
Belaying for groups of climbers of all ages
Evaluating belayer competence through belay tests
Instructing new climbers on the safe use of automatic-belay devices and bouldering safety
Instructing on proper belay/safety technique through belay lessons
Monitoring the gym floor to ensure the safety of all customers
Cleaning tasks as necessary
Route maintenance tasks as necessary (e.g., Changing tape, tightening holds etc.)

Desired Skills and Experience:
High school Diploma or equivalent
Punctual and reliable
Previous indoor rock climbing and belaying experience
Safety conscious
Previous experience working with children
Customer service and sales experience
Outgoing, friendly personality

Youth Program Instructor (All Locations)

The Youth Program Instructors at Rock Spot Climbing will run weekly classes and special programming for youth at the facilities. All activities shall be conducted under the direction of the Director of Youth Programs and the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities will include:
Maintaining a safe, positive and productive learning atmosphere
Committing to a 12 week class schedule
Interacting professionally with both parents and students
Implementing and monitoring lesson plans and curriculum
Managing the flow of activities/learning during class as well as from week to week
Teaching hard skills (belaying and knots) as well as technique on the wall
Adapting and modifying lessons based on the needs of the students
Functioning as part of a team
Being able to perform all floor staff functions

Desired Skills and Experience:
Outgoing, friendly personality
Schooling in education, recreation, or a related field
Previous indoor rock climbing and belaying experience
Experience teaching/coaching a hands on skill or sport
Experience working with youth of all ages
Experience creating or implementing lesson plans
Ability to work nights/weekends
Ability to engage an audience
Ability to enforce rules and regulations
Detail oriented and organized
Punctual and reliable
CPR and First Aid (or willing to acquire)
